This is mainly because a significant investment of medical resources is required once the elderly suffer from diseases. The number of people needing long-term medical care and medicines in their old age will increase, which will put stress on available facilities giving this care. In fact, the government is responsibility for the provision of health care. Moreover, with the increasing number of people living longer after retirement, the government would under pressure to provide more pensions and improve the social security system. It would require employees to increase their pension contributions as the state will have a tremendous shortfall in funding for pensions.
